Description of the panel

GameTable: Computational Techniques for Tabletop Games Heritage is a new COST Action that brings together experts from computer, cultural, and mathematical sciences to explore ways to study, preserve, and reconstruct the heritage of tabletop games from around the world. Within the Action there are five working groups focused around game-playing AI, cultural heritage of game, procedural game generation, mathematics, and dissemination and education. The Action offers tools for developing collaborations across these areas of interest, including funding opportunities for conference travel, training schools, and scientific missions that will contribute to the overall goals of the action. We plan to explore ways to develop AI agents that play games in more human-like ways, to find ways to leverage this kind of simulated play to study tabletop games, to develop a more effective database focused on the cultural heritage of games, and to promote games heritage education. This panel brings members of the network to discuss our purpose and goals with the audience, as well as to develop new possibilities for collaboration.
