WG5 Seminars Teaching social science modelling through games (Pijus Krūminas)
During the webinar hosted by WG5, scheduled for Friday, June 13, 2025, from 18:00 CET, Pijus Krūminas will present Teaching social science modelling through games Abstract: When can board games serve as a tool to gain modelling skills? The session explores how board games can reflect and model reality, and how the use of board games in classroom can help students to improve their own modelling skills through playing and analysis of play. Starting with an example of a game built around a political science model, the talk then discusses the relationship between games and other types of modelling and how acknowledging this can help in teaching. The presentation is based on the experience gained through running game-focused classes, where students play and develop their own games that reflect some aspect of our reality.
