STSM: Gaming items of the Southern Valencian Community and the Region of Murcia from Museum Collections and Ancient Roman and Iberian people settlements - Ilaria Truzzi
As part of her STSM, between March 22nd and April 1st 2025, Ilaria has been working as a visiting researcher at the University of Alicante. Her investigation consisted in visiting several museums in the area of the Southern Valencian Community and Region of Murcia —Archaeological Museums of Alicante, Murcia, Elche, Alcudia d'Elche, Cigarralejo, Cartagena — to study the gaming objects part of the permanent collections as much as additional gaming items stored in the archives. The examination consisted in the graphic documentation of gaming items, such as counters, knucklebones, dice and dice shakers, and the recognition of graffiti gaming boards in archaeological spaces.This data will serve to investigate the customs of the Iberian people in the context of the Roman conquest of the Iberian Peninsula.
